Stripping

Home Stripping Finishing Repairs Mirror Silvering

Here at Elite we use a three tank dip system for stripping. This allows us to strip any kind of finish or paint. The first tank holds methylene chloride stripper. This is the same kind of stripper you will find in your neighborhood hardware store except it is a stronger concentration. It removes varnishes, polyurethane and most paints.

The second tank is our Warm tank. Its used for removing old milk based paints and will remove most stains.

The third tank is our Nature Tone tank and is used to brighten the wood back to its original color.

None of our tanks are heated so your furniture is not cooked and ruined. There is no splitting during the drying process and the glue is not stripped from the joints.

We have a price guide for standard pieces such as chairs. A varnished dinning room chair would be $70.00 to strip and finish. We figure that the stripping process is half of the work, so to just strip a chair it would be $35.00. The cost to strip a painted chair would be higher because they are harder to strip. We mark up the stripping price by 50% making it $52.50 to strip. The finishing price would be $35.00 for a total of $87.50 for total restoration. We will have our complete price guide up on this site in the near future.

We welcome all stripping jobs and also have a complete line of finishing products at www.elitefin.com for the D.Y.I'er
